It can be quite a daunting experience buying jewellery and they have done everything they can to make the client feel relaxed & comfortable. Jewellery Design has a 18 year history in the jewellery industry in Whangarei and began in the Kiosk situated in the Strand Arcade in 1993 as the business grew they required additional premises, moving into a prime position on the corner of the Cameron St Mall & Strand Arcade.
In expanding the business they were able to incorporate their first design studio. At the time, most jewellery retailers relied on manufacturing wholesalers who only had a range of standard designs and stones and the customer’s choice was limited. They wanted to be able to create some more original ideas and the idea of taking different components from a range of ring designs and combining them to create a new ring design was appealing.
With this unique and successful combination well-established, the team wanted to take the business to the next level. They wanted to increase their focus on unique, one-off, hand-made designs with outstanding craftsmanship, as well as taking full control of the service and quality elements to ensure delivery of superior customer service and workmanship.
To achieve this, in June 1999, the Jewellery Design team moved from the Strand Arcade to a purpose-built house known as the ‘House of Design' located at the corner of Western Hills Drive & Percy Street, Whangarei.
These new premises provided a larger design studio and a private and personal setting in which clients can select and design their own unique pieces of jewellery. In conjunction with the move to the house, Jewellery Design also launched their new "diamond brokerage" & "coloured stone merchants" service, sourcing gems, || from all around the world; their lifetime warranty on all pieces manufactured at the ‘House of Design’ as well as a "satisfaction-guaranteed" design service.
In addition they also added a range of designs from other designers that echoed their belief in fine craftmanship but offered their clients a different prospective in design.
Ever increasing business has meant a further refit at the end of last year to maximise the floor area available to display the hundreds of designs that are all made up to view and purchase. This included the outside design area which provides a pleasant covered outdoor area to sit and contemplate a new design for the client & designer.
